Handmade Bench: It’s Time for a Fabric Facelift

Posted by on Jul 24, 2014 in Craft, Interior Design | No Comments

I really can’t believe that it’s been almost 10 years since I took this bench from sketch to finished furniture. It was my first brush with furniture design and a reminder that design is only 5% of the entire process. To say that I was intimidated would be an understatement, but that burning ambition always pushes me through. And so, as the years go on…so do my tastes. I’m looking to spruce this baby up with a fabric facelift. My gut tells me that powder blue is the way to go, but I’m not sold yet. In the meantime you can see how it all came together. This project inspired me to broaden my skill set when it comes to interior design. It’s important to understand all aspects of production in order to create functional designs.
